At the business registration office in the municipality where you have your primary residence—online or in person, depending on the municipality.
How much does registration cost?▼
Between 20 and 60 euros, depending on the municipality. The Chamber of Crafts charges an additional fee for tradespeople.
Do I need a business plan?▼
It is not required for the Trade Licensing Office. However, it is required for a startup grant or a KfW loan.
What happens after I sign up?▼
The tax office sends a questionnaire regarding tax registration. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) or the Chamber of Crafts will contact you if membership is mandatory.
